Orthotic Prescriptions


Custom Orthotics are a functional device that are designed specifically to your foot in order treat or correct certain biomechanical disorders in the feet and body. A plaster cast or foot mould is taken of both feet to correct your foot function. 


They are individually customised from a plaster cast or mould of your foot, supporting and altering forces that can impact negatively on joints such as the ankles, knees and hips. Placing the foot in a biomechanically correct position allows the muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones to function more efficiently,  therefore reducing aches and pains your feet, legs and joints.

How we can help: At Healthwise, our Podiatrist will create a cast of your feet in the correct position.  This cast will be forwarded to a specialist provider who will create the Orthotic according to the instructions from the Podiatrist. This process takes about 1-2 weeks. An important step in the process is when the patients returns to have the orthotics fitted.  Our Podiatrist will ensure that the Orthotic provides the necessary support and correction to properly align your feet.  We will also require a follow up visit after a month to make any necessary final adjustments. Orhtotics can also be design to fit into specific shoes or sporting footwear.  Please bring along any footwear that you feel is necessary so that our Podiatrist can provide the best service to you.
